Last week, we sent you an email about the Google Sign-In option for Don Johnston tools. Google announced to all their 3rd party app developers that they were shutting down the Google + API, and all apps that used the Google+ API would need to use alternative APIs such as Google Sign-in and Google People API to "Sign in with Google". Unfortunately, this would have required a change in the G Suite Admin Console.

However, shortly before the shutdown, Google made changes to the shutdown plan to mitigate its effect. The resulting change now allows apps to sign in with Google without any changes to the G Suite for Education settings.

Please note that while the behind-the-scenes method of signing in with Google has changed, the protection of student data has not changed in any way.
