To put a student into test mode, sign into cowriter.com as an educator or administrator, go to Manage Students, select one or more students, click the Lock icon, then select the test the students will be taking from the dropdown and click Turn On.

Placing Co:Writer's Chrome App into Test mode for SOL* "Standards of Learning" disables all the features that are NOT allowed for an accommodation within the Chrome App as explained in the administration manual http://www.doe.virginia.gov/testing/test_administration/manuals/test_implementation/2018-2019-csh-em.pdf (Page 63 for Speech-to-text and page 65 for Word Prediction).

Co:Writer's Chrome Extension will also share these test settings when turned on. The extension can then be used in compliance with the test as long as the online word processor also complies with the requirements.

While in Test mode for the SOL, Co:Writer will only predict single words, predictions will only show after a letter has been chosen by the student, specific topic predictions are turned off,  automatic correction is off (auto-capitalization is off for both word prediction and speech-to-text), misspelled words are not underlined, and Co:Writer does not include a thesaurus or grammar check.

Per the administration manual (page 65), Co:Writer's Chrome app will allow the written responses to be printed for the purpose of securely storing the writings until the scores are received and verified.

For printing while in Kiosk Mode, please make sure you have an external printer connected to your Chromebooks.

After signing out of the application while in Test Mode, Co:Writer permanently and irretrievably deletes the student's writing from the application and client computer.
