Why does the Snap and Read Universal Extension only highlight the First word when it is converting text to speech on my Chromebook?

This issue was fixed in the latest Chrome OS update version 56.0.2924.110.   Check and make sure your device is running Chrome OS version 56.0.2924.110 or higher. 

How to check and update the Chromebooks OS:

1. Click the status area, where your account picture appears.

2. Click Settings > About Chrome OS.

3. In the “About” window that appears, click Check for and apply updates.***

4. Restart the device when prompted.

***Managed devices may need to be updated by your IT department.
